Underscore (_) in above example basically looks for only single character match and percentage (%) looks for none, single or multiple characters match. This write-up explained how to use the LIKE, NOT LIKE, and ILIKE operators in Postgres to perform Pattern matching. In the above examples you see, the literal pattern, without percentage and underscore signs, means the string itself would be considered as a pattern and it’s working like and equal sign and matches input letter by letter. The LIKE operator is case sensitive while the ILIKE operator matches the search expression with the given pattern irrespective of the letter case. The NOT LIKE operator negates the results of the LIKE operator, which means the NOT LIKE operator will retrieve false if the match is found and true if the match is found in the string. The LIKE operator matches the search expression with the specified pattern and retrieves true if the match is found. The output shows that the NOT LIKE operator retrieves all the strings other than those that contain a substring “Function”. WHERE article_title NOT LIKE '%Function%' In this example, we will use the NOT LIKE operator instead of the LIKE operator to find all those strings that don’t have the “Function” substring in the article_title column: SELECT article_title Use the below-specified syntax to perform text matching using the NOT LIKE operator: SELECT FROM tab_nameĮxample: How Does the NOT LIKE Operator Work? What is a NOT LIKE Operator and How Does it Work? The output snippet proves that the “ILIKE” operator retrieves the data irrespective of the letter case. Let’s implement the ILIKE operator on the same previous example and see how it works: SELECT article_title Use the below-specified syntax to perform text matching using the NOT LIKE operator: SELECT FROM tab_nameĮxample: How Does the ILIKE Operator Work? The ILIKE operator matches the search expression with the given pattern irrespective of the letter case. What is ILIKE Operator and How Does it Work in Postgres? The above snippet proves that the LIKE operator is case-sensitive. The output snippet proves that there are two titles in the “artile_info” table that contain a substring “Function”.Įxample 2: Case-Sensitivity in LIKE Operator The LIKE operator is case-sensitive, so it will retrieve false if the perfect match does not found: SELECT article_title We will utilize the percent wildcard with the LIKE operator to find a substring “function” from the article_title column: SELECT article_title We have created a table named “article_info”, whose data is shown in the following snippet: SELECT * FROM article_info Use the wildcards to specify a pattern of your choice in place of a pattern.Įxample 1: How Does the LIKE Operator Work? Use the below-specified syntax to perform text matching using the LIKE operator: SELECT FROM tab_name The LIKE operator is case sensitive, which means the LIKE operator will consider “ABC” and “abc” two different strings and hence retrieves false in such a case. What is a LIKE Operator and How Does it Work? This write-up will teach you the difference between LIKE, ILIKE, and NOT LIKE operators in PostgreSQL. The percentage wildcard "%" matches sequences of characters, while the underscore "_" matches a single character. Two types of wildcards are used in Postgres to specify a pattern: a percentage sign, “%,” and an underscore sign, “_”. In PostgreSQL, LIKE, NOT LIKE, and ILIKE operators are used along with the wildcards to perform the pattern matching.

In the course of working together, did you feel like he was getting those elbows in? His great strengths have been taking truly unattractive people and making you care about them, and I just think that’s admirable. Yeah, he’ll dig an elbow into you when he sees a weak spot or a sore point, but if he sees that he’s actually hurt you, he’ll back off and apologize. I liked John, and what I came to learn about John is he’s honest to God one of the kindest people I have ever met. Oh, I don’t remember specifically anymore. Is it true that Michael Douglas cautioned you against it as well? What was I, some kind of institution that had to be put in a glass case? The crap with that shit. That attracted you to it more, because people were cautioning you against it? It’ll ruin your career.” Which of course set my back up. He’s a B-movie director, and you don’t do B-movies. My agents and all the other people around were like, “No, you can’t do that. I said, “All right, I’m going to do this with you.” Well, that’s when the screaming started. I liked that sense of celebrity-excuses-all crap. I thought, Okay, this is kind of what I was hoping for. He had storyboards and explained to me exactly how he would shoot it. Yeah, he just jumped on the train and came to my house in New York. Are you going to be home this afternoon?” I gave him my address, and four hours later John was ringing my doorbell. I don’t do that.” And he said, “No, no, no. I need to know exactly how you would shoot this because if it’s going to be a gore-fest, that’s not for me. So I called John and said, “Here’s the deal. I finished it, and I thought, Okay, this will either be the height of absurdity and humor, or it can be a gore-fest. It was the only thing I didn’t like when we got to doing it.Īnyway, I threw it down again, and again I went back. I started reading on, and it was fine until the lit hairspray with the kid. I got to the point where she sticks the poker in and pulls out the guy’s liver, and I went, No! Gross! I threw the script down in my office and puttered around, and then I went back to it. So when he sent me the script, I thought, Well, of course I’m going to read it. Honestly, if you’d said to me, “You’re going to do this John Waters film,” I’d have said, “You’ve got to be kidding me.” I had seen Cry-Baby with Johnny Depp - I liked that, but all the Divine stuff I didn’t have much of a handle on. Oh God, the first thing I think is how we laughed. When you think of Serial Mom and that era of your career, what first comes to mind? There’s never a wrong time to revisit Serial Mom, so Turner rang up Vulture to reminisce about working with Waters, and why her agents told her not to take the part - which only made her want it more. But the role was always meant to go to Turner, who was riding a career high that started with 1981’s Über-sensual Body Heat and continued with Romancing the Stone, Peggy Sue Got Married, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Accidental Tourist, and The War of the Roses. Along the way, Glenn Close, Meryl Streep, and Roseanne Barr were among the actresses considered for Beverly. Serial Mom was initially developed at Columbia before landing at Savoy Pictures, a short-lived distributor co-founded by two former Columbia executives who didn’t seem to grasp the humor of the movie they’d acquired. When Beverly snaps, a mischievous glint fills Turner’s eyes, as if a demon has possessed Beverly’s body - not that she minds. Beverly is content to keep her home tidy and her family fed as long as no one insults her children, steals her parking spot, interrupts her bird-watching plans, or violates the insipid fashion codes of the upper middle class. John Waters’s 1994 satire underperformed at the box office, but today it’s considered one of the sharpest parodies of suburban life. Turner’s Beverly Sutphin is the perfect housewife, aside from, you know, all the carnage and whatnot. Serial Mom runs a jaunty 95 minutes, just enough time for Kathleen Turner to make vulgar prank calls to her scandalized neighbor (“Is this the Cocksucker residence?”), extract a teenage boy’s liver with a fire poker, bash a woman singing Annie over the head with a leg of lamb, clobber Patty Hearst with a pay phone for wearing white after Labor Day, and have acrobatic sex with Sam Waterston because murder makes her horny. Photo: Mary Evans/Polar/Everett Collection On defying her agents, hitting Patty Hearst with a pay phone, hating Barry Manilow, and watching Shirley MacLaine eat a staggering number of crabs. However, I don't recommend this as it is very difficult to think about how fast you're typing and if what you're typing is part of a shortcut or not. Another way to control how the text is expanded that will allow you to use any word is the speed by which you're typing. So, that's not something you want to do if you're just using this word by itself. Photo Credit: Screenshot of Auto Text Expander shortcutsįor example, if you choose the abbreviation "email", every time you type email, it will be replaced automatically with your phrase or paragraph. One quick tip I can give you here is to pick combinations that are less probable to appear as a complete word themselves or as a part of a word. The next part is setting your own shortcuts, and choosing an easy to remember combination of letters that are also related to the expanded text. You could also delete them using the trash icon on the right of the text field. In the beginning, you will have some shortcuts already defined as an example, and if you need them, you can use them right away. Photo Credit: Screenshot of Auto Text Expander extension To set up the tool, simply click on the icon and a page with the possible options will appear on the screen. Once added a small icon will appear at the top on the right of your navigation bar next to the settings. It is available in the Chrome web store and can be easily added to your extensions of your browser. The first step for using this tool is to download it. Photo Credit: Screenshot of Google search results for Auto Text Expander This way you can save time and instead of entering the same thing over and over again, all you need to do is type the shortcut combination and the text will expand automatically for you. The idea of the tool Auto Text Expander is to replace a shortcut character, a combination of characters and/or symbols with a longer word, phrase, or text paragraph. The defendant, who was carrying a rifle, calmly approached Mr. Steve Craig, a witness at trial testified: While it's unclear what this log would accomplish legally, it's pretty clear the officer didn't advise Casteel to angrily confront swimmers, which he did, forcing them to write down their names, numbers, license plate numbers, etc in his log book. Multiple witnesses would later testify at trial that this was one of the things that set Casteel off.įor some reason a police officer had previously told Casteel to keep a log of all the people crossing his property when Casteel had made an official complaint. It is just a sad fact of life that areas like this accumulate a lot of trash. The previous owner of the property had allowed people to come and go as they chose. Frank had been spending a good amount of time camping on his property and confronting trespassers. That would be the last time they were seen alive.Īround that same time Frank Casteel and his wife Suzie left to camp on their property for their anniversary, according to a neighbor. On the afternoon of July 9, 1988, Richard Mason, 49, Griffith, 22, and Smock, 23, decided to set out on four wheelers for the blue hole. Kenneth Griffith and Earl Smock were on leave from the Air Force and visiting Griffith's in-laws in Tennessee. It would be years before Casteel was finally arrested and when he was finally brought down it would be for a very stupid decision both he and his wife made. It seems one July night in 1988 he reached a breaking point and ended the lives of three innocent men who just wanted to go swimming. Frank Casteel had been menacing trespassers as he called them for months. The blue hole was on private property but the previous owner had allowed free access leading people to believe the trail was public. I don't know if Frank Casteel knew what he was getting into when he bought property around a popular local swimming hole on Signal Mountain, TN known as the Blue Hole. I would like it to be secured higher up in the cloth base because it does do a good job of supporting the smaller babies. When trying to put the baby in, I found myself constantly adjusting it before putting the baby in and then again when the baby was placed in because it moved when trying to secure the baby with the belt. It honestly seems like a hazard because it is not secured to the base. The body pad is not as secure as the head piece and slides around. The body pad has a slit that connects it to the lap belt. The head pad is secured with Velcro into a loop into the cloth base and stays in place. There are also 2 included pads that slip into the cloth base. There is an included toy bar with 2 included toys that sway and keep the baby’s attention while they are awake. This beeping indicates to the user that the button is being pushed but it wakes up the baby. The thing I do not like about the volume is that it beeps as you increase the volume. The volume adjusts for the sounds so that it is soft and loud, with a few levels in between. This is a welcome addition as it acts as white noise for the baby and lets you do things around the house without every noise disturbing the little one. The bouncer also comes with 2 sounds: a lullaby sound and a water/nature sound. I wish the bouncing function was stronger. Once the baby was placed in the bouncer, the weight of the baby made the movement even less. Without anything in the bouncer, there is minimal movement. The high is what I envisioned a low to be. The low function is too little in my opinion, it hardly even moves. Orange is off, one green light is low and 2 green lights are high. There are 3 speeds of the bouncer: off, low and high, all accompanied by lights that show you what level you are on. It saves mom or dad from having to keep the rocking motion going with their hand or foot. I like the convenience that the SmartBounce has an automatic bouncer. (I wish this did not require batteries and instead had the option to be plugged in or a rechargeable battery.) Please see time lapse video of the assembly. The only tool needed was a small screw driver and 3 C batteries. The assembly time from start to finish was about 10 min. The assembly was easy with instructions that were clear and easy to follow. The DreamComfort SmartBounce Automatic Bouncer in Pemberton by Ingenuity is like many other baby bouncers with a few upgrades and a few concerns. Has Some Great Features and Some Concerns It was easy to assemble, and easy to use. It was nice to have something familiar for him when out of town. This was perfect for us to use when we traveled with our little one. Machine wash with cold water, gentle cycle. We love this bouncer for our little one, however after recently taking it apart to clean it, we found that one of the frame pieces broke and will no longer stay clipped in when we try to reassemble it.
Yet as we are all familiar…history repeats itself. Shortly after, many established and higher-income residents moved out of Parkdale and construction of apartment buildings replaced whole blocks of homes with towering, more modern, structures – once considered ‘architecturally innovative’ in the 1950s and early 1960s. Construction of the Gardiner Expressway resulted in the demolition of many key parts of the neighbourhood and created a barrier between what was then considered Parkdale ‘territory’ and the north shores of Lake Ontario. The eclectic, artsy, and entrepreneurial, makeup of this area of Toronto has attracted hoards of young professionals, and young families, looking for that ‘village vibe’ in the thick of the big city.Īround the early 1900s, Parkdale was a well-to-do suburb of Toronto that displayed an array of stately homes, mansions, and Victorian-era row housing. Parkdale is a happening part of ‘the six’ that is home to a diverse wealth of ethnicities, incomes brackets, and occupations. Welcome to Toronto’s Parkdale neighbourhood. Interestingly, current zoning bylaws seem to favour a return to single family dwellings, information that will be valuable to those interested in a Parkdale Purchase. It’s one of the few places in the city that TRREB reported as having a lower average price for a fully detached home in 2012 as compared to a semi. The neighbourhood has a local library and three (count ’em THREE) community centres that serve local residents. Gentrification has been slower here as a result of the lower income-suited properties, and this has been a benefit to a buyer willing to forego move-in ready in favour of attainability and longer term potential. The influence of numerous apartment buildings, in combination with the many large multi-unit and group homes has left Parkdale as one of the last holdouts for undervalued properties in the city. While townhouses and condos do exist here, you have to look hard to find them. If you are a prospective buyer here, a house (as opposed to a condo) is likely what you’re looking for as most of the apartment stock in the area is exclusively rental. Character and mature trees are a hallmark of this aged Toronto neighbourhood. Well, ripe bananas are now prime real eastate for banana chocoalte peanut butter brownies. I know we all have them and then blank on how to use them. I’m sure that these healthy banana chocolate brownies will become your favorite way to use ripe bananas.

A fiberglass-filled nylon base and highback ensure a comfortable ride that is still reactive enough to really shred. The fuse is fun, flexible and reacts immediately to what you are doing. With the new, wider EVA ExoKush PowerStrap, the nylon baseplate filled with glass fiber and the asymmetrical UniBack highback made of one piece including a 2.5 ° beveled BankBed, it is perfect for everyone who wants to have a lot of fun on the mountain in comfort, which is practical Active Strap Technology also supported. The fuse offers a great mix of responsiveness, support and flexibility and is super light. I would recommend sticking with the hybrid, I find it more comfortable and gives better adjust-ability IMO.Flow Fuse Easy In Snowboardbinding 2021 bue I have no experience with the Fenix, but it seems pretty similar to the Fuse, but I can't find it in a hybrid. I honestly feel like I can drive my toe side really hard with these. Replying to your other comment on the straps being "too low", I have had no problems like that with either binding. I have spent up to 8 hours in either one and didn't have pain or discomfort at all, but the NX2 is just a tad more comfy IMO. It feels more comfortable overall and is also easier to get on and off when adjusting the bindings. I find the foot bed on the NX2 to be nicer than the Fuse. I had an old pair (2011) of Flow The Fives bindings that didn't have it and I hated them, really hard to get your boot in and out if you had them adjusted to be snug.īoth have the same kind of highback tilt adjustment, which works well, but if you are skating around a bunch (and jostling the board while not strapped in) they will tend to fall out of adjustment and need tweaked from time to time. I use my NX2 setup when I am just freeriding, I use my Fuse setup when I am freeriding and plan to play around in the park a little.īoth the Fuse and NX2 have the Active Strap Tech, which, IMO, is a must have for Flow bindings. If you want even stiffer you can go for the NX2 GTs. I can't say they are a lot stiffer, but I can tell the difference when pushing hard through carves. They are fairly similar, but the NX2s are just a bit stiffer. I have the NX2 Hybrids on one board and Fuse (This years model) on another. However I'll live with this in return for the comfort and responsiveness while riding.Īgain, the flux or Fenix might give you the same control, but as a freerider and softboot carver I recommend going with the NX2s. I find that I have to open the binding all the way before my foot comes out, which is actually slower than just unratcheting traditional binding straps. I sometimes have a bit of trouble getting my boot out because they fit so well that the straps are almost molded to my boot and it takes a bit of wiggle to break free even with the strap riser system. They are stiff enough that I can flex the board sideways and not just heel/toe similar to my old aluminum frame Drake bindings, yet I don't have to crank down as tight as them. They are stiff and comfortable, the highbacks give me excellent forward lean and have minimal flex because of the cable system. I've tried flows from 15 years ago and they sucked, but I absolutely love these. I've never ridden or examined the Fuse or Fenix but bought a pair of 2018 NX2-GTs last year with the 1 piece straps (was looking for the separate strap version but it was over the summer and at over 60% off retail so I got what was available.) r/SkiBuddies (Find people to ride with!)
